(MPR) Gentle Hatha Yoga with Vanessa Doherty

Hatha Yoga is a gentle, traditional practice that encompasses breathing techniques, meditation and mindful movement. While stretching and strengthening the body, it can reduce stress and increase energy flow.

A yogi since 1994, Vanessa Doherty began teaching yoga in 2010. Certified in the traditional practice of Hatha Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Reiki.

(MPR) Gentle Yoga Wednesdays with Rotating Instructors

This class includes a gentle asana practice as well as restorative poses. No previous experience necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing. Especially for women who have/had cancer. Women supporters may attend as space allows.

(MPR) Expressive Arts Therapy with Francisca Lizana

Working from an Expressive Arts base means that we may use a variety of creative modalities to explore, make meaning and integrate what is present or arising during the workshop.

Francisca Lizana, MFT, is from Chile and is fully bilingual in both Spanish and English.  She received a Fine Arts Bachelor Degree (Chile) an MA in Design & Media Arts (England), and an MA in Counseling Psychology, specialized in Expressive Arts Therapy, through the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.

(MPR) Queer/Trans Open House and Cancer Panel (co-hosted with The Pacific Center)

One of the benefits of WCRC’s new building is that we are neighbors with The Pacific Center, the oldest LGBTQ center in the Bay Area. As neighbors, it only makes sense that we co-host a queer/trans event, no? We hope that members of the LGBTQIA community and their supporters will come by to experience WCRC’s new home. You are welcome here!

On July 13, we will have a panel of folks from the LGBTQIA community who will share the various ways that cancer has affected their lives.
