Summer is Here--A Simple Step to Avoid Cancer
Ah, summer! Time at the coast (even if foggy), days at Lake Tahoe, time on the Bay or Delta! What a glorious time of the year. Please, please, please remember if you are outside this summer put on sun block! A tan is not beautiful if it leads to skin cancer, which can be deadly. Wear a hat, protect your skin and eyes and lather on the sun block. Too much is not enough. Be sure to apply early in the day and reapply if you sweat, are in the pool or simply exposed for long periods. Be especially aware of young children and older friends and family who are outside with you. Now, go enjoy this wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.

Do You Have Plans for This Evening?
Friends of the Center will be gathering tonight, May 27th, at the home of Board member Darlene deManincor and her partner, Emily Rosenberg. Good food, some lovely wines, and lots of caring folks. It will be a grand evening! Come and watch the sun set over the Bay with us. Admission is $50-$100. Please give as generously as you are able. Call 510/601-4040 ext 100 for details.

Spring Cleaning? Got Clutter?
If you are cleaning up around your home this spring and discover you have things that you want to get rid of, please note that you can help the WCRC while cleaning. We are partnered with the Community Thrift Store at 623 Valencia St. San Francisco and when you donate there, the WCRC is returned 65% of what your goods sell for at the Thrift Store. What a deal! You get to de-clutter your life and we get a lovely donation out of your gift. They don't pick up but if you need help getting your goods into San Francisco, we have a volunteer who can help. Call the Center 510-601-4040 ext 100 for details.

New to our Library
“The Spirit of Women,” the thesis of Jessica Brugel, who will be awarded her Masters in Social Work from San Francisco State this weekend, is now in our library. Jessica interviewed several of the clients involved in the program of WCRC about their personal story of hope and survival with cancer. Feel free to stop by and read the inspiring stories.
