WCRC’s Second Annual Art Show

FLAMING: Art from LGBT Communities

The artists include Judith Black, Michelle Echenique, Leslie Ewing, Jerry Frost, Katie Gilmartin, Verlena Johnson, Patricia McGullum, j. mcmillon, K. Max Mellenthin, Ramekon O’Arwisters, Fran Roccaforte, deb schneider, Andrea Vargas-Mendoza, and Li Yu.

The show includes paintings, charcoal drawings, mixed media works, photography, glass mosaic, and more. Many of the works are self-portraits or representative of LGBT community or aesthetic.

The show runs through July 28th, 2006. June is LGBT Pride Month. A reception with the artists will be on Friday, June 30th, 6-9 PM. There will be live music by local vocalist and songwriter Melanie DeMore who is a member of the renowned Cultural Heritage Choir. There will also be a silent auction during the reception from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.

The WCRC Gallery is located at 5741 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. The gallery is wheelchair accessible. There is no charge for the show or the reception and there will be a no-host bar. The show is generously co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
