All donations are tax deductible and support the provision of a wide range of services to women with cancer (Tax ID #: 94-3131204). All donors will receive an acknowledgement letter from the Women's Cancer Resource Center. [If your donors donate online they will receive an automatic acknowledgement letter via email.] If you are looking for a receipt to give to your donors, print these receipts (doc) and then fill out the appropriate information and mail to your donors.
Raising/Collecting donations
How the Donating Works
Collect donations from family, friends, coworkers, local businesses, etc. All swimmers must raise $350 in donations. Families must raise $600 per family.
The suggested minimum donation is $25.
As there are limited spots for this important fundraising event, any shortfall of the $350 per swimmer (or $600 per family) fundraising requirement will be auto-debited on November 19, 2010, from the credit card account given at registration. Your credit card will be charged if you fail to reach your minimum by the final fundraising deadline, November 19, 2010.
Each swimmer will be able to access his or her personalized webpage that tracks donations received online and those sent to the WCRC. You can personalize this webpage as much as you wish (include photos, messages, etc.). You will send a link to your website out to potential sponsors who can then donate online or send you a check or cash.
Instructions for Fundraising
- Record your donations on this donation form (pdf). Also, each swimmer will have a webpage that will track online donations as well as donations sent directly to WCRC.
- Sponsors must donate a flat amount (not per lap).
- Please allow 3 – 4 weeks for posting of checks on your personal webpage. We rely on volunteers to enter checks to keep our cost down.
- Checks received after November 30 will not be posted to the website
- All checks should be payable to the Women's Cancer Resource Center.
- Please write your full name in the memo area of all donation checks. This will make it much easier for us to identify which swimmer the donor is supporting.

- If possible, we request all swimmers submit their donations October 3, 2010.
If you are unable to submit your donations prior to the Swim A Mile, please bring your completed donation form and all donations to the Swim A Mile event. - Swimmers who raise over $1000 will receive an awesome embroidered Swim A Mile hat.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers in the following categories:
- Individual
- Family (up to 5 swimmers)
- Swim teams: which includes both competitive swim teams (summer, REC, USS, masters, high school) and teams of at least four individual swimmers
NOTE: All donations received by November 19, 2010 will be counted towards this prize. The winners will be awarded post November 20th.
DOES YOUR EMPLOYER MATCH GIFTS?
If so, your fundraising efforts can be doubled! Ask at your HR office, and check with those who are supporting you to see if matching gifts are available through their employer too.
