The Mills College pool is chlorinated, heated (81°F), and 25 yards long. One mile equals 36 laps (72 lengths). To complete one mile, it will take approximately:
Paddles, buoys, fins, kickboards, goggles, and family and friends to provide enthusiasm and support. We'll have lane counters to count your laps -- a harder job than it appears -- but you are also encouraged to ask your friends to do this for you.
Please do not wear perfume at the swim -- it creates an unpleasant environment for your fellow swimmers. The Mills College Pool does not allow pets, alcohol, or glass bottles.
Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before your scheduled swim time in order to:
As your swim time approaches, please be suited up with goggles, cap, kickboard, etc. before reporting to the Lane Director on the far side of the pool.
Up to five people swim in a lane based on their indicated swim speed (master's, fast, medium, slow). If you’d like to swim with friends or family, please tell your Lane Director.
If your lane has two swimmers, each person will take one side of the lane. If there are three or more swimmers, everyone will swim counterclockwise in a loop (up one side, down the other).
Lane counters will track your progress and fill out your buck slip. Your friends, family, and WCRC’s cheerleaders will help speed you along. When you finish your swim, our DJ will announce your name!
After your swim:
We’ll be offering the opportunity on-site to register in advance for next year’s swim. Sign up after your swim and receive a special gift!
