Whether this is your first or your fifth or your eighteenth Swim A Mile, if you would like some one-on-one support from an experienced participant around training, fundraising, or other aspects of the Swim A Mile, get more information about the Lifesaver Program.
We are pleased to offer you our Swim Training Guide, produced in collaboration with Neil Virtue, Head Swim Coach at Mills College, and Julie Martin, Director of Aquatics and Safety at the Downtown Oakland YMCA.
The Mills College Swim Team will be offering four separate swim trainings at the Mills College Pool for Swim A Mile registrants to help swimmers reach their goals.
Swimmers will be split into Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert learning groups (individual lessons are highly likely depending on how many swim team members are present to teach). Each group will have individual lesson plans based on what the swimmers want to learn (examples: breathing, body position, flip turns, etc.).
There is no fee for the trainings. You are invited to make a $10.00 donation to WCRC. You MUST bring your ID with you, to be held at the office while you are in the pool.
Please let us know if you will be joining us. You can email swim@wcrc.org to indicate the time and date of the session you will be attending.
August 24 ~ 9:30 - 11:00 am
September 14 ~ 9:30 - 11:00 am
September 21 ~ 9:30 - 11:00 am
September 28 ~ 10:00 - 11:30 am
If you are bringing children and they are not participating in the Swim A Mile or the training sessions, please do not leave them unattended or intend for them to free swim. We do not have enough lifeguards on duty to allow them to swim outside of the training sessions.
