Wellness Workshops

We offer a variety of classes and workshops to promote healthy living, cancer prevention, and quality of life through creativity, movement, education, and activism. Many workshops are reserved for women with cancer, while others are open to everyone.

In this class we will learn about herbal plant medicine.  We will learn how to make a delicious and easy-to-digest soup that incorporates immune boosting herbs. We will make the soup and enjoy it together during class.

Exercise is extremely important in helping to alleviate effects of cancer treatments and maintaining good health after treatment. We will complete an easy full-body warm-up, an easy workout, and a relaxing cool down. We will work on muscle strength maintenance, body composition, as well as balance and flexibility. Come ready to exercise in comfortable clothes and shoes.

Janet Crandall is a personal trainer and health and fitness Instructor, from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is a Certified Cancer Exercise Trainer (ACSM and ACS), one of fewer than 500 in the country. Everyone welcome. Registration required.

We will make a batch of seasonal sauerkraut using what is plentiful at the farmers market. We will learn about the immune boosting benefits of fermented foods. We will get to taste a completed batch of sauerkraut and beet kvass.

Please bring a wide mouth jar with a lid so that you can take home some fermented vegetables.

Sandy Siegal is a certified nutrition consultant and traditional foods cook.

Love Yourself: Restorative Yoga and Massage with Rachel and Dina

(Multi-purpose Room) Love Yourself: Restorative Yoga and Massage with Rachel and Dina

When:
March 23, 2018 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Staying healthy is a practice that starts with turning your attention towards yourself. During this workshop we will draw upon the practices of the Chinese 5-element theory and the Ayurveda theory.

We will check-in with ourselves through long held supported yoga poses while receiving deeper relaxation through therapeutic massage.

There will be two yoga and massage sessions with a brief break in between where we will converse about how to best support our health during the spring season.

Rachel is a certified Shiatsu and Traditional Thai Massage practitioner at www.artfulhands.com. She integrates Traditional Thai Massage, Shiatsu and Acupressure so that our bodies can heal themselves.

Dina has taught Yoga since 1997 and she integrates her studies of Yoga, Ayurveda and Pilates into her classes at www.dinahondrogen.com. She places a great emphasis not only on the body but also places an important emphasis on the mind and on the emotions.

Everyone welcome no previous experience required. Registration required.
