WCRC is recruiting and hosting LGBTQIA+ community members who are age 50 or older (cancer or other health diagnosis not required) to participate in focus groups that will directly influence California resources, services and policies to better support the well and rights of these communities. WCRC was part of a state-wide collaboration of health researchers and LGBTQIA+ community organizations that conducted a Survey of LGBTQIA+ Older Adults in California: From Challenges to Resilience in 2023. There was an overwhelming positive response to the survey from community members. The focus groups are step two in the process of gathering information on the health, economic and well-being of California’s older LGBTQIA+ population.
There are focus groups being held throughout the state of California by community organizations. WCRC is hosting 2 workshops: 1 for Lesbians and 1 for BIPOC community members. Each group will be 8 to 12 participants.
