Join author and clinical psychologist Carmen G. Ortiz who is the founder and Executive Director of the Círculo de Vida Cancer Support and Resource Center in San Francisco.
Carmen will be reading excerpts from her novel, A Matter of Seconds. The story is a fictionalized account of what happens to 37 year old Luna Rivera after she slips her hand under her shirt and then life as she knows it has completely changed.
Carmen G. Ortiz has received many awards for her contributions to the field of psycho-oncology support. As a research partner with the University of California San Francisco, she’s collaborated on several research studies, produced eight scientific publications, and trained a cadre of Latina cancer survivors in Southern and Northern California as peer support counselors. Breast cancer entered Carmen’s life just four months after completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She was 39 years old.
Everyone welcome. Registration required.
