An event every month that begins at 10:00 am on day 6 of the month, repeating until September 7, 2024

With Shannon Knorr

Survivorship is about life after diagnosis and treatment. Survivorship lasts from diagnosis until the rest of our lives. In this workshop series, we will dive deep each month into a different theme around issues relating to survivorship and stages of healing and recovery. These workshops are for anyone in any stage of recovery. We will explore through somatic explorations, creative process and expressive arts. Please bring art materials of your choice, for drawing or painting, as well as writing materials.

Shannon Knorr is a somatic therapist, who combines somatic and depth psychology, expressive arts and transpersonal therapy into her work. She is a therapeutic yoga teacher, a Hakomi Level 2 and Tamalpa Institute graduate, who continues to study somatic healing arts, creative process, mindfulness, dream tending, ritual and rites of passage, herbalism and spiritual studies. Shannon is a cancer survivor, and after her own treatment, felt disappointed at the survivorship options that she was given at the cancer center, that seemed to solely focus on continuation of medical treatments and appointments, yet missing the emotional and spiritual healing and integration that she felt a deep longing for. Shannon wanted to offer a space for a community to gather and create and heal together while exploring ways to transform and alchemize the pain and poison of our experience, into medicine. July 6 : Restoration

In this workshop, we explore ways to nourish, restore and love ourselves as we are in this very moment. We begin with noticing what and who is here, after this journey that we have endured, who are we now and who are we becoming. We will explore self-compassion and self-acceptance practices through somatic practices, creative writing and art making. Who are we, in this moment? How can we feed and nourish ourselves? We begin by being with where we are at and developing our ability to be present and mindful of our self, seeing with clarity and spaciousness, without trying to fix or change who we see. Can we see and be with ourselves as we are?

August 3: Honoring our Grief

Love is the mother of grief, in this workshop, we will explore deeply what it is that we love, and how we honor that which we have lost. We explore our grief about the changes which we have experienced on this journey, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and energetically. These experiences often deeply change us, yet the lives that await us often expect us to be the same person we were before. What can we release and let go of and how do we create rituals to honor what we have lost?

September 7: Renewal and Regeneration

“Regeneration; the process or action of being regenerated, the formation of a new animal or plant tissue.” This is a process that can be a restoration of a body or system, which happens after grieving what we have lost, it is time for us to focus on what it is we want to grow and expand into, what and who are we becoming, as we are becoming anew.

These workshops can be taken as either a whole series, or, taken as a single drop in. WCRC will provide some art supplies!
