We are thrilled to announce that we have received a $10,000 grant from SCAN Health Plan Foundation to provide direct financial assistance to older adults living with cancer in Alameda County.

This funding will help address some of the everyday challenges that can make cancer treatment even more difficult. While a cancer diagnosis is life-changing at any age, older adults often face compounded barriers to financial stability, including fixed incomes, rising housing and utility costs, increased healthcare expenses, and limited ability to return to work. Research shows that approximately 70% of cancers occur in people age 65 and older, and many older adults experience significant financial hardship related to cancer treatment despite having Medicare coverage.

The support made possible by SCAN Health Plan Foundation will help older adults remain focused on their health and treatment by reducing financial stress and addressing basic needs that are essential to well-being and recovery.
